Wordly Views

Evidently I haven't been out in the world in a long time. My Husband and I went out tonight to Applebee's, and we got our bellies and eyes full! It seemed like every where I looked someone was half naked, shirts so low cut that nothing was left to the imagination (you didn't even need an imagination, everything was in plain view) and bare shoulders and backs everywhere. I'm so used to my Christian Blogs, Websites and the only people I ever see are family and Christian Friends, that when we went out tonight it was a big culture shock! I wanted to scream, "Put some clothes on!!! Didn't your parents teach you any better?!" Has anyone had a similar experience?

Sadly, anywhere you go people are "clothed" (or the lack there of) like that. It's something that we just need to pray for them, and dress modestly (but sweetly/cute) at the same time as an example!

it's so sad and....gross isn't it?

Yes it is! I felt uncomfortable and offended.

I have had that experience! It's VERY irritating to see how much females disrespect themselves. And it's mostly us females that do so. As a matter of fact, I used to be one (well probably not as bad as those nowadays), but I did try to "look good." And I'm a firm believer that television, radio, and music play a part. Certain music makes us feel "sexual" and television shows have sex all over it. It's hard to find a good one to watch. It's hard raising children in a world like this too. I am 450 miles from my family and am visiting them now. My brother has a little one now too. When we were visiting, he stripped him down (he likes to be naked- what baby doesn't) and had him show everyone where his peepee was. I was terribly annoyed. You have no idea. My 7-year-old daughter was there, my 5-year-old son, and my 18-month-old daughter. I pulled my two oldest off to the side and asked them if they remembered what I told them about their private parts and to respect that. They did a good job, but of course they thought the whole thing was funny. If you couldn't guess, I grew up in a very liberal household and a year ago, this kind of thing wouldn't have bothered me. Our kids are going to be subjected to this kind of thing, but I must keep them safe and firm in their faith and respectful of their bodies and others'. It's something that has been lost in our society for some time now. I think it also plays a major part in sexual freedom and abortion rights. Women (and men) want this "sexual freedom" but not the responsibility that goes with it, so they get abortions because they don't feel like they have any other "choice." Sad isn't it. Great post SaChay. Sorry I wrote so much. This kind of stuff gets me so fired up....

It all goes hand in hand. I was at my Dad's house Sunday and they were watching something called A Thousand Ways to Die, it was very vulgar! They were sitting there watching it right in front of my 11 year old brother. I couldn't believe something so sexual would be allowed on TV. My Husband and I don't have TV and haven't since we've been married. So we've been TV-Free for the past 4 years, Thank God!!! We do have Netflix, but we can pick what we watch, and I try to guard our eyes, hearts, and minds very carefully!
